Spring Update:
I've been away for six weeks (camping in Arnhem Land) and a friend Micki, has been looking after my animals along with managing the farm. Well I'm back, refreshed and inspired, and Micki will be here shortly and we'll open a bottle of champagne to celebrate no dramas while I was away. The adventure up north was fantastic and Micki managed the farm without a hitch. I could hardly believe it, 27 degrees here on my first day back, rich green grass, orchard in full bloom....Victoria is a beautiful state with its four seasons.
Back to breeding horses. I don't keep the mares continually in foal, I like them to have a year off after they have a foal, so this year...no foals. But I have last year's weanlings, and the year before's yearlings, to handle and prepare for training. I like to keep the situation enjoyable and not put myself under too much pressure trying to do too much.
There is an interesting exhibition on at the Bendigo Art Gallery from 3 December to 12 February "Made in Hollywood". It is a celebration of Hollywood studio portraiture from the industry's golden age, 1920 to 1960. Greta Garbo, Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean and Marilyn Monroe. These portraits trasformed these people into international icons and it sounds like a lot of fun, especially if you are over 50 and have fond memories of this era.
Over and out until next time....
